Notes about ted talk

she lived in ten different places

she flunked her way through elementary school in science and math

loved language and culture

enlisted in army after high school   left army at 26.

loved adventure

Antarctica. met her husband

she was changing external not internal

how did you change your brain?

began to talk to experts in the field

simplify brain 2 ways:
  • focus
  • relax
when you learn you go back and forth through  these 2 ways

best way to learn is to learn, take a break, learn, take a break    no one can focus for 45 minutes straight



procrastination:

you actually feel a physical pain

if you work through it it eventually goes away

it can become an addiction

set for 25 minutes. everything turned off. When you are done, do something fun
helps you have focused attention
you relax

allows brain to open up.

think that you are a hiker and not a race car driver
